Recycled Banknote Jewellery

September 19, 2010

Tine de Ruysser is a jewelry designer who is all about folding! She even invented a folding material during her studies at the Royal College of Art. Her website is dedicated to her folded work. I was especially taken by her “Banknote Jewellery“.

Detail of 6 necklaces from 6 continents (China, USA, Australia, Europe, South Africa, Argentina,)

Created from Ngultrums which is the currency of Bhutan since 1974.

From artist, Lauren Vanessa Tickle who calls this line of her work (working with currency) “Value Exploration”. Other projects which she gives glimpses of on her blog are called “Inconsolable” and “Weathered”. She is a recent graduate of RISD in the Jewelry and Metalsmithing program.
